CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Noah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just before he turned seven years old. Being diagnosed at a young age meant learning early how diabetes would fit into his everyday life. One of the biggest challenges Noah faces is managing his diabetes while staying active, especially when playing sports. Balancing blood sugars with physical activity takes planning, awareness, and responsibility, but Noah continues to learn what works best for his body.

Living with diabetes has influenced Noah in positive ways. It has helped him stay focused and aware of what he needs to do each day to stay healthy. He has learned discipline and problem-solving skills that guide his choices and help him feel in control. Diabetes has become something he manages alongside his goals, not something that stops him from pursuing what he loves.

Noah enjoys staying active and spending time on the ice and the golf course. He plays both golf and hockey and enjoys the challenge and teamwork that come with sports. Even though being active with diabetes can be difficult at times, Noah remains determined and committed to doing the things he enjoys. Looking ahead, he hopes to become a teacher one day, inspired by his experiences learning, growing, and supporting others.

Noah attended D-Camp and describes it as super fun. One of his favorite memories was waking up early for the polar bear swims, an experience that challenged him and brought plenty of excitement. Being surrounded by other kids who understand life with diabetes helped him feel supported and included. Noah is proud of who he is and continues to show that diabetes does not define him—it is just one part of his story.
