CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Brooklyn was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) on October 26, 2024, at just eighteen months old. While most toddlers her age were learning new words and exploring the world freely, her family was suddenly learning about blood sugar, insulin, carbohydrates, and ketones. Their lives changed overnight as they adjusted to finger pokes, site changes, and constant monitoring.

Even so, diabetes did not take Brooklyn’s joy or her spark. She is still bright, determined, and wonderfully strong willed. She wears the technology that keeps her safe and handles finger pokes and pump changes with a bravery that amazes her family. She is already learning patience, even when diabetes interrupts playtime.

For her family, diabetes has reshaped daily life and deepened their appreciation for simple moments. A stable night of sleep or a smooth afternoon outside now feels like something worth celebrating. They have also found comfort in a supportive community of families who understand both the visible and invisible challenges of diabetes.

Outside of diabetes, Brooklyn’s personality shines. She loves to dance, sing, and make people laugh. Her imagination is huge, and she approaches the world with confidence and joy. She may live with T1D, but she is defined by her creativity, her boldness, and her bright spirit.

Brooklyn is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to raise awareness for kids like her and to show that even the youngest children living with diabetes can be strong, joyful, and unstoppable.
