CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Grace was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was just five years old, a moment that brought fear and sadness to her and her family. Learning to live with diabetes at such a young age meant facing challenges that other kids her age did not yet understand. One of her biggest daily challenges is trying not to go low, which requires constant awareness and care. Even with these challenges, Grace has learned how to listen to her body and manage her diabetes while continuing to do the things she loves most.

Grace does not let diabetes get in the way of living her life. She is full of creativity and talent and expresses herself through movement and music. She is especially skilled at ribbon dancing and loves singing and dancing. These activities bring her joy and confidence, and she continues to pursue them with determination, even when diabetes adds extra layers of planning and responsibility.

Living with type 1 diabetes has taught Grace resilience and courage. She understands that diabetes can be scary, especially for newly diagnosed kids, but she wants others to know that it is going to be okay. Grace believes that while diabetes is part of her life, it does not define who she is or limit what she can achieve.

Grace is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to help raise awareness and to show other kids living with diabetes that they are strong, capable, and never alone. She hopes her story helps change the conversation around diabetes and reminds others that they can still shine, dream big, and live fully.
