Delilah Raine

CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Delilah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) on August 15, 2023. The night she was diagnosed, she remembers getting a Coco stuffy and feeling relieved that the doctors finally understood why she had been sick all summer.

One of Delilah’s biggest challenges is managing diabetes at school. It can feel embarrassing when her mom needs to come in, and it’s frustrating when her devices beep during quiet moments like silent reading. When that happens, she sometimes feels judged, even though she’s just doing what she needs to do to stay safe.

Delilah says diabetes has made her more mature and responsible than many kids her age, because she has to think about keeping herself well all day long. That responsibility can be heavy, but it has also helped her grow into someone who is strong and self aware.

Delilah loves music, especially the K pop group Stray Kids, and she even went to their concert in Toronto last summer. Her message is confident and clear. Don’t be embarrassed to say you’re low. You can still eat anything you want to.
