CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes
Dylan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at 13, after seeing a Diabetes Canada advertisement that asked a simple question about being thirsty all the time. That moment shifted everything. Life changed instantly, but it also had to keep moving, because diabetes doesn’t pause the rest of your world.
One of Dylan’s biggest challenges is the constant presence of T1D and how quickly it can impact life, especially when people try and ignore it. Much of the work is invisible to those who don’t live it, but it is always there in the background.
Today, Dylan’s lived experience connects directly to his professional purpose. He is a health researcher working in nutrition, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. Being diagnosed as a teenager pushed him to mature quickly and shaped a broader systems level perspective that influences how he lives and how he serves others.
His message is simple and true. Diabetes is a bad club to have to join, but it is full of the best people.
