CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Aiden was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in February 2019 after his parents noticed symptoms while on a family trip to Mexico. Once home, a visit to the IWK quickly confirmed his diagnosis, introducing their family to a new world of carb counting, blood sugar checks, and constant learning.

Aiden is an extremely active and independent 10-year-old who loves sports, especially baseball, where he proudly plays catcher. Managing diabetes while staying active can be challenging, as medical devices sometimes get pulled off during play, but Aiden takes it all in stride. Living with T1D has made him resilient and strong beyond his years, forcing him to grow up quickly and take on responsibilities with confidence.

Aiden is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to raise awareness and show that diabetes does not define or limit him. His family reminds others that while diabetes can feel overwhelming at first, it does get easier with time—especially when you lean on the T1D community for support and knowledge.
