CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Carli lives with type 1 diabetes (T1D), and while diabetes management has become mostly second nature, she still remembers what it’s like to live without constantly planning ahead. Now, she never goes anywhere without backup supplies, insulin, and extra technology essentials, whether she’s heading to work or out to her dad’s farm.

Even after years of experience, diabetes still has moments where it catches her. A few times a year, a simple mistake like forgetting her phone becomes a much bigger problem, because that phone isn’t just a phone. It connects to her diabetes technology and helps keep her safe. For most people, forgetting a phone is inconvenient. For Carli, it can mean rearranging an entire day to make sure she has what she needs to manage T1D.

Carli is a proud mom to Fintan and Kira and a wife to her husband Ross. Their family recently traveled to Ireland to visit relatives, and Carli and Ross even squeezed in a side trip to Greece. Diabetes didn’t hold her back from any of it. It simply required extra planning, extra patience, and a reminder that adventure is still possible.

Carli’s story is proof that you can build a full life with T1D. You just learn how to plan differently, and you keep going.
