CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Blake was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at 14 months old, so he doesn’t remember life before diabetes. What he does know is that managing T1D has been part of his routine for as long as he can remember, and it has helped shape him into someone strong and determined.

His daily challenges include constantly being told what to eat and how much insulin to take, and learning how to manage blood sugar while being very active. Diabetes demands attention, even when you’re busy doing the things you love.

Blake refuses to let T1D slow him down. He is the captain of the Regina U13B Blues hockey team and is leading his team through a provincial run. His diabetes hasn’t stopped him from competing at a high level. He is currently second in the league for goals and points, proving that diabetes does not decide what you are capable of.

His message is simple and powerful. Don’t let diabetes slow you down. Go chase your dreams.
