CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Kylee was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) on November 13, 2020, a moment that quickly changed her daily life. Adjusting to diabetes meant learning new routines, developing awareness of her body, and understanding how to balance care with everything else life brings.

Living with diabetes comes with daily challenges, some visible and many unseen. Monitoring blood sugar levels, planning meals, and staying prepared require focus and consistency. These responsibilities can be demanding, especially while staying active and keeping up with everyday life.

Living with diabetes has helped Kylee build confidence and independence. It has taught her responsibility, adaptability, and how to trust herself in managing new situations. Diabetes has become part of her life, but it has never stopped her from doing what she loves.

Kylee is athletic and does not let diabetes interfere with her ability to stay active or pursue her goals. Movement, sports, and physical activity are important parts of her life and contribute to both her physical and mental well-being.

Kylee attended D-Camps, where she created many positive memories and built meaningful connections with others living with diabetes. Being surrounded by peers who understood her experience helped her feel supported and empowered. She would strongly recommend D-Camps to other kids living with diabetes.

Kylee believes that participating in events like the Pump Couture Fashion Show is a powerful way to change how diabetes is talked about and understood. She is modeling to raise awareness, support others living with diabetes, and show that diabetes does not define who you are.
