CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes
Grace was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at a young age, a moment that brought fear and uncertainty into her world. The early days were overwhelming, and learning how to manage diabetes required patience, courage, and constant adjustment. Over time, Grace and her family found their rhythm, learning together how to navigate daily care and build confidence along the way.
Living with diabetes means being constantly aware. Checking blood sugar levels, responding to changes, and staying on top of daily management are all part of Grace’s routine. These challenges, while demanding, have helped her develop resilience and determination. Grace has learned that she is capable of doing hard things and takes each day one step at a time.
Grace loves gymnastics, animals, and art, and she dreams of becoming a veterinarian one day. These passions reflect her creativity, compassion, and curiosity, all of which shine through in how she approaches life.
Grace attended D-Camp for the first time last year, an experience that had a meaningful impact on her. Being surrounded by other kids living with diabetes helped her feel less alone and more understood. She would recommend D-Camps to other kids, especially those who are newly diagnosed or feeling unsure.
Grace is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to share her story and help raise awareness about what it means to live with diabetes. She hopes to show that while diabetes is part of her life, it does not define what she can do or who she can become.
