CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

June’s world changed at age 12, but it didn’t slow down. It simply found a new rhythm. Her diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (T1D) became a turning point for her entire family. Her mother stepped into the role of a thoughtful and meticulous guide to nutrition, while her father became a dedicated sports trainer, focused on keeping June active, strong, and healthy. Together, they built a foundation of care and resilience that June carries with her today.

Living with diabetes meant learning how to navigate a new normal at a young age. As June often says, diabetes doesn’t have intermissions. There is no pause button. It requires constant awareness, planning, and adaptability. Over time, she learned to find her own pace and confidence in managing the unexpected highs and lows. It is her journey and her dance, one she continues to grow into every day.

June feels comfortable and confident being publicly visible as a person living with diabetes, without needing to explain or justify it. For her, wearing an insulin pump or using a continuous glucose monitor is simply part of daily life. She strongly believes that visibility matters and that being seen helps challenge stigma and reshape how others understand diabetes.

An active and determined individual, June embraces the small victories that add up to a healthy, fulfilling life. Whether she is lacing up her shoes for a walk, learning to ski, or enjoying a nourishing meal, diabetes has never stopped her from living fully.

June is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to use her voice and visibility to help change the conversation around diabetes. Through confidence, representation, and authenticity, she hopes to remind others, especially young people, that diabetes does not define them and it certainly does not hold them back.

Please support June as she fundraises to help send more kids to D-Camps.
