CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Ashley was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) as a young adult after being hospitalized with severe symptoms. The diagnosis was sudden and life changing, requiring her to quickly learn how to manage a condition that demands constant attention and care.

Living with diabetes means navigating both visible and invisible challenges every day. From monitoring blood sugar levels to managing energy, stress, and expectations, diabetes requires discipline and adaptability. Over time, Ashley has grown into a strong advocate for herself, building routines that support her health and well-being.

Living with diabetes has shaped Ashley into a disciplined, resilient, and self-aware individual. It has taught her the importance of listening to her body, asking questions, and advocating for her needs in both medical and everyday settings.

Ashley feels confident being publicly visible as a person living with diabetes. She strongly believes that representation matters and that visibility helps challenge stigma and create greater understanding. By participating in events like Pump Couture, she sees an opportunity to actively change how diabetes is talked about and understood.

Ashley is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to help raise awareness, normalize life with diabetes, and support a future where no one feels alone in their diagnosis.
