CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes
Hunter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at the age of 10. At first, the only noticeable symptom was an increased thirst, something that did not immediately point to how much life was about to change. His diagnosis became a learning moment for his entire family as they began adjusting to a new routine and a new way of living.
With the support of his care team, Hunter and his family have worked hard to understand diabetes and adapt to daily management. Remembering to calculate and take insulin at the right times has been one of Hunter’s biggest challenges. Over time, using an insulin pump has become a true turning point, helping him manage his diabetes more confidently and consistently.
Living with diabetes has helped Hunter discover a strength he did not know he had. He continues to build confidence by asking questions and taking ownership of his care, knowing that learning is part of the journey.
Outside of diabetes, Hunter enjoys learning to play the drums, listening to music, and playing video games. These interests give him an outlet to express himself, stay connected, and have fun.
To someone newly diagnosed, Hunter shares a simple but powerful message. Some days will be hard, but you will get through it.
Hunter is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to help raise awareness and show that kids living with diabetes can grow, thrive, and live full lives. Through his story, he hopes to help others feel less alone and more confident in their own journey.
Please show your support for Hunter and help make a difference for the diabetes community.
