Brianne Hodson

CHANGING THE CONVERSATION for People Living With Diabetes

Brianne was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in 1997 at the age of 11. Growing up with diabetes meant learning responsibility early and navigating a condition that required constant attention, even when others around her did not fully understand what that meant. Like many people diagnosed young, Brianne spent years quietly managing her diabetes while also figuring out who she was.

Over time, living with diabetes shaped Brianne into a strong and confident self-advocate. While she was not always comfortable speaking openly about her condition, she now takes every opportunity to educate others and challenge diabetes stigma when she encounters it in daily life. She believes that sharing knowledge and lived experience helps create understanding and breaks down harmful assumptions.

Brianne is especially passionate about being a role model for others living with T1D, particularly those who were diagnosed at a young age like she was. Managing diabetes for many years has helped her become more organized, resilient, and self-aware. While the challenges are real, she lives by a simple but powerful reminder. She can do hard things.

One of the most meaningful parts of Brianne’s life is being a mom to three amazing children. Living with diabetes has shown her the importance of balance, self-care, and perseverance, values she carries into parenting and everyday life.

Brianne is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to help raise awareness and show that living with diabetes does not limit what is possible. She wants others to know that while T1D is hard work, a fulfilling and enriching life is absolutely achievable. Support, education, tools, and community make a difference, and no one has to navigate this journey alone.
